Mudra is a part of yoga. People suffering from physical and mental health problems can benefit from practicing mudras. The tamil spiritual classic Thirumandhiram has various proofs to emphasis the benefits of Mudra practice. Our hands are believed to hold energetic points for the Panchabootham – the five great elements and thus the use of mudras is a way of manipulating these elements in the human body.
The elemental structure of the hand is represented as follows:

Method

The dorsal side of two hands has to touch each other in front of chest. Thumb and Index finger has to touch. Other four fingers has to touch each other.

This mudra when done for 15 minutes thrice everyday can give the complete benefits. Diabetes causes damage to Nerves, Pancreas, Heart and Lungs. Sumana mudra helps to maintain the Sugar level. It also refreshes the body and makes the mind calm.

Prithvi Mudra

Method

Ring Finger has to be bent to touch the Thumb finger. Other Fingers has to stay straight.

Fatigueness in mind and body will get relieved. It helps Weak persons to increase Body Weight. This mudra makes the skin smooth and polish. It increases the performance and also health of the individual. This mudra makes better understanding of the eternal life and pleasures, thereby making the mind and body relax. Aagaya Mudra

Method

Middle and Thumb finger has to be in feather touch. Other three fingers has to be straight.

Vayu Mudra

Method

Bend the index finger and thumb has to be placed over the tip of Index Finger. Other three fingers has to be straight.

This mudra when practiced for 15 minutes thrice everyday can give the complete benefits. When doing Vayu mudra, one can realize the Pranic energy entering the body through Sulumunai Naadi. Varuna Mudra

Method

Little finger and Thumb finger tip has to be pressed together. Other three fingers has to be kept straight without any gaps. Doing this mudra for 30 minutes daily with concentration will give lot of benefits.

Surya Mudra

Method

The ring finger has to be bent to touch the palm, and Thumb finger has to be placed over the ring finger such that the Thumb finger presses the Ring finger. Other three fingers has to be straight.

Kathai Mudra

Method

Thumb has to be kept straight and other four fingers has to be bent to touch the palm. Thumb has to touch the index finger. Now, the Middle finger has to be lifted and touch the other hand’s middle finger.

Thirisula mudra

Method

At First, the little finger has to be bent and thumb has to be placed over it. The other fingers has to be straight and should not touch each other(like a Trishul) Both the hands with these finger position has to cross each other in front of the chest.

Vigna Mudra

Method

Pray Lord Vinayaga before starting this Mudra. First, we have to fold all fingers and Thumb finger has to be placed over Ring Finger. Middle finger has to be straight facing the earth.

Paasa Mudra

Procedure:

At first the fingers of both hands has to be bend. Index finger has to be bend to touch each other. Then the Thumb finger has to touch the Index finger in a straight manner. Th lower part of the hand above the wrist has to touch each other. The other three fingers has to be bend and should not touch other hand fingers with some space between them. This mudra has to be kept close to the chest.

Angusa Mudra:

Procedure:

First all the fingers has to be folded and thumb has to be placed over the ring finger. Now the middle finger has to be brought straight and the index finger has to be bent and rested on the first fold of the middle finger as shown in the image. Now slightly bend the index finger like ‘Angusa ’ and has to be placed over the chest. This is Angusa Mudra

Maan Mudra

Procedure:

Thumb has to touch with the first cross line in the Middle finger and Ring finger as shown in image. The index finger and little finger has to be straight.

Asthma Mudra:

Procedure:

The middle finger has to bent and touch the other finger’s middle finger. The nails must also touch. The other fingers has to be kept straight.

Procedure:

As shown in image, Each hand’s index finger has to get touch the middle finger of the other hand, and the ring finger has to touch the little finger of the other. The two thumbs has to touch each other. Thumb should not touch other finger.

Both the hands must be folded tight. The index finger has to be straight as shown in figure. It has to be faced upwards and the hands must be placed over the chest. Breathe process has to be slow than normal.

Thuimaipadthuttum Mudra(Cleanliness Mudra)

Procedure:

Thumb finger has to touch the lower part of the ring finger with light pressure. This mudra can be done for 15 mins daily

Mugula Mudra

Procedure:

Four finger has to come closer to the Thumb finger as shown in image and has to be faced upwards.

Mukula Mudra can be done by placing the hands over the Body parts which have pain to ghet relief from pain. Not only the body parts, This is applicable to Organs in our body also. All we need to do this perform the mudra regularly with utmost concentration so that pain will get reduced day by day and in the longer run can get free from pain.

AbanaVayu Mudra:

Procedure:

Index finger has to be bent to touch the lower part of the Thumb. Middle finger and ring finger has to touch the Thumb finger . Little finger has to be straight.

Mahasirasu Mudra:

Procedure:

Thumb, Index finger and Middle finger has to be touched with the tip of these fingers. Ring finger has to be bent and placed in the center part of the palm and the little finger must be straight.

Head related aches, eye related pains and neck related pain could be cured. Sinus disease can be controlled. Mind relaxation occurs.

Rudhra Mudra

Procedure:

Thumb, Index finger and Ring finger has to be touched with the tip of these fingers. Middle finger and Little finger has to be kept straight. Our breathe (vaasi) should be normal.

Body organs such as Stomach, spleen and pancreas will get stimulated and strengthened. Body tiredness and fatigue will be removed. Helps in digestion and increases appetite. Dislocation of intestine and Uterus , Brain disease can be cured. Heart disaese’s intensity will get reduced.

Garuda Mudra

Procedure:

Keep the right hand over the left hand . Lock the thumb finger across each other as shown in image. The rest of the fingers has to be stretched straight. This mudra can be done for 5-10 mins a day.

It removes negative characters from our mind and also regulates blood flow. The pains acquired during menstrual cycle, Stomach disorders, respiratory problems can be cured by this mudra. Sabana Mudra:

Procedure:

The index fingers of both hands has to be joined by facing upwards. The other three fingers has to be placed as shown in image. Thumb fingers has to make a multiplication sign by placing one over the other.
